Why does the media always protray beauty as being tall long hair and light skinned?

in my opinion i think that the media is very one sided on what beauty really is its always the long haired light skin and skinny girls making all the publicity (beyonce, halle berry, paris hilton etc) i think that the media should show more of a variety of people of all different skin tones sizes and hair esp in the modeling industry because not all people have that certain media look





in the future i hope to come up with a beauty and fashion magazine that shows people of all hair skin colors and sizes because in my opinion i think that beauty comes in many varities not just the typical standard of beauty what do you think?

Beyonce and Halle arent light skinned, and Beyonce's "long" hair is a lacefront wig (Halle Berry has short hair I think)! Paris isnt even human....

Reply:its complicated they like thin but curvey, long or super short edgey hair, tan but not too dark.
Reply:Stereotypes grow farther than history says they do in the modern world presumes them to be .Follow your heart and do the right thing, hopefully the people in charge of these industries will learn from the critera you and all people should set.

It might contribute to the fact that in medieval times, to be considered beautiful, girls had to be tall, have a long neck, long blond hair and grey eyes.


Also the fashion industry people [magazine editors, publicists etc] look like this themselves, so it might be a way of actually becoming a [model] without actually doing anything.

Anyway, probably has to do with whomever holds power: economic/political power. Objectification.

beyonce isn't exactly the thinnest of people, yes shes toned but not thing. Light skin? shes African-American wouldn't very well call her light skin





Halle Berry had short hair last time i checked and again african-american, her dad is african





Paris hilton? yes she is light skinned and at times has long hair. She wouldn't look right fatter her weight suits her.
Reply:i agree....i think that if the media cut down inlesat the height reqirement and the weight up a bit a lot more prettier girls would be on magazines and such....but i really dont belive about making money about how u look...i think that if someone is famous it should be because of their talents/accomplishments

I guess it's just that the majority of the people think tall and skinny is awesome...
