Moving to aussie?

We are thinking of moving to australia. what is the best area to live in with children aged from 7 to 12?

We are aged 29 and 33

As in schooling, weather (they are all fair skinned), i work in the oil industry and my wife is a nursing assistant.

We would be moving from England.

Moving to aussie?
Melbourne may well be the place for you = its fantastic city in New South Wales and was voted the best place in the world to live (2005). It is very smart, clean, excellent public transport (they have trams) and a lot of parks and open spaces. Because its the south, the weather isnt too hot!

EDIT: Lol - of course Melbourne is in VICTORIA - I was having a "special" moment.
Reply:Melbourne is actually in Victoria.

Before you make a life changing decision like moving to the other side of the world you need to come over for a holiday and see for yourself what it is really like.
Reply:Melbourne as far as the weather is concerned,it is a lot cooler.Schooling would be OK wherever, and your wife would have no problem picking up work.Your job i really do not know.

BUT stop thinking about it and just do it(we did 20 years ago best move we ever made) you will not regret it.Good Luck.
Reply:Perth is a good choice as there is loads of work here due to the mining boom going on. The weather is superior to Victoria and not so much of a rat race. Nurses and teachers and all proffesional people are being recruited here from all over the english speaking world.
Reply:Ria H: "Melbourne .....fantastic city in New South Wales " LOL. Please go look at the atlas. I LIVE in New South Wales and our capital city is Sydney.

Any place is good in Australia. depends on what sort of climate you want and how "affluent" a life style you want. Do you want to live in a big city or a more quieter towns.

Th coastal area is good. Not sure about work in the "oil industry" - not sure what you mean by that. But nursing assistant should be ok as we are so short in nursing everywhere.

Coastal area is nice to live. The more inland the hotter. The more north the hotter as well.

We are a large continent and climate is wide and varied. From hot tropical and cyclonic area in the north to the moderately cold in the south.

Melbourne, Sydney Brisbane or Perth should be your first consideration as these are big cities. There are also lots of larger town along the east coast. Canberra - the capital is a nice place to live too.

I think - depending how well your kids adjust to change - any place is good for them. If they are "city kids" then try Sydney or Melbourne or Brisbane.

Do more research. It will be worth it in the long run.

Hope this help somewhat.
Reply:I'd suggest Perth, Western Australia. It's a great City for kids (very lifestyle oriented) and has a large population of Uk expats if you were interested. The weather is mild by Australian standards (ie cool but not cold, rainy winters and long hot summers - always use sunscreen in Australia). Jobs are booming in WA - oil industry and nursing should not be a problem.
