Who is responsible for "marketing" ultra Slim models?

I have seen it on Entertainment Tonight about a Brazilian model who died from Anorexia and I wanted to ask, who do you think is responsible for making young women in the Fashion industry (and in real life too starve)? I know the general answers are the media. I'm not looking for that or the answer from Society or their peers as well, because as we all know people base their judgements by what they see around them, like general Mass media.

For fashion, my guess goes towards the suspicion of the Gay men who design the outfits and hire the girls in the agencies. From what I have heard from ALL heterosexual men in my life, they don't want a girl to be skin and bones period. It would make it hard to buy a girl a box of chocolates or take her out to dinner and worse the fear she will have complications during pregnancy if she is too thin. I am sorry if I offended Gay men out there, but I think they are (the ones in the industry) are partially responsible, if not a lot responsible for it.

Your comments about gay men in the fashion industry are pretty much right on the mark. These male designers know what kind of the body they like and if you think that many of the models look like 12-yr-old boys, then you are correct.
Reply:It's the fashion industry. It's unrealistic for someone to be a size 0.It may not seem like it but things are slowly changing for the better.
Reply:Ever since Twiggy came on the scene back in the 70s, rail thin models were the standard.
Reply:the responsibility lies with the girls who starve themselves simply to be employable as models. i can advertise all over for someone with the ability to fly, but i cannot be blamed for the idiots who jump off the roof in an effort to prove they can do it. it's all about personal responsibility. we all make our own choices, and i have no sympathy for anyone who refuses to eat and take care of themselves in order to fit another's ideal of beauty. how shallow can one get?
