What are your views on Bollywood (only hindi not other indian industries) being racist to dark skinned people?

I saw many movies where they depict the lighter skinned to be superior while dark skinned people esp. from sri lanka and africa to be losers for comedy (that's right it does not even have anything to do with the theme of the movie)? Do you think they should be banned and be given a fine. I personally think they should.

Well I think it shows how the western "light is right" media doesn't only affect African Americans and other minorities in America. I think it's sad that people are only being appreciated if they have light skin. No one can help what physical attributes they are born with, so how you hate someone or look down on someone for something that they literally can't help. I think everyone regardless of skin tone should be represented in the media because everyone is beautiful, beauty isn't one dimensional it's complex.
Reply:While it is true that Bollywood prefers lighter skinned actors, I have to tell you that make artists can create magic.

There are many actors who are dark skinned but appear light skinned in the movies due to make artists weaving their magic as well as the high quality cameras they use.

I have seen quite a few actors in my time and most of them are much darker in real life than as they appear on the silverscreen.

Also Bollywood is perceived to be mostly for the upper half of India. Heck for that matter, there was a European Indian actress called Helen who always acted as a tart in the movies - I don't hear the White Indians complaining about the bad name and stereo typing portrayal she gave them.
