Does the western world still have a color complex towards blacks or people of African decent?

I purused Macy catelogues in US and Canada, I noticed most of the Blk men/women were VERY light skinned. Maybe there were one or two who were peanut butter brown.

Even in the "HIGH FASHION" industry dark skinned girls dont get to wear the same types of clothes or colors. If a woman is chestnut or darker she is considered "exotic" and she might were lime green or sand-brown colors. Unless a BLK women who is dark skin has made a name for her self in music or television, she will be hard pressed to reach the SUPER MODEL STATUS.

Its sad the SOME blk brothers have bought into this idea that LIGHT is RIGHT. Most BLK ATHLETES wives are either asian, white, biracial or so light-skinned that you can't tell what category they fit in.

HERE IS MY QUESTION TO YOU

Do you feel...................

1.The West is still stuck on race?

2.TV has left a lasting imprint that dark blk is still ugly or "animalish"?

If you or have been a victim of dark skinned discrim. please share your story!

In the U.K. people from the former Soviet Bloc are flooding in to take our jobs on lower wages so causing huge unemployment and stopping people who have lived here and served their country all their lives INCLUDING WHITE, ASIAN AND AFRO-CARIBBEAN BRITS getting work when we desperately need it. Many employers particularly in such as the hospitality industry will not now employ native Brits because they get the migrant workers cheap. The migrants coming in from such countries as Poland , Czech republic, Estonia, Rumania etc. are not black nor brown but white! They are being encouraged to come here as a deliberate policy by our out of touch politicians Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, David Cameron, Ming Campbell etc. as a deliberate policy involving expansion of the European Union, despite fact that most people in the U.K. are opposed to U.K. being in the E.U. and there has never been any kind of referendum or consultation with people by tony blair's government about this. Nobody has ever been consulted about expanding it to allow Soviet Bloc countries in. This is creating unemployment bitterness and misery in this country. That is why we detest them and want to see them clear out and go back to their own country to make the U.K. like it used to be.

Is that racism? I think not but form your own conclusion as to our feelings please!.
Reply:Why do people still talk about this like it ever stopped? Every week there's something different on TV to remind us that yes, the industry admits, officially, that it has issues with race. Personally, as a black person, I'm annoyed by all the media we're getting. Yes, we know the industry, and most industries have problems with race. Yes, we know they know. I used to be able to go online to get away from the constant, "Does this company / person / industry have problems with race?" but now, now, I can't even go online to get away from it.

You know there are other minorities that no one likes too.
Reply:i've thot about this several times coz i'm black too and i feel that altho people are getting more enlightened, the issue of racial discrimination is something that can never be totally eradicated.the most important thing for black people is to prove their know-how wherever they might find themselves.people would respect u even if they don't like ur color.
Reply:I agree with the prior poster. This problem never went away. We need to stop acting like its no longer an issue when it really is.
