This condition is called "hyperpigmentation" and can indeed be caused by sun damage (it can also occur during pregnancy, but usually in that case, it goes away when the baby is born). There are prescription creams you can use to lighten the skin, so I would recommend seeing a dermatologist. Additionally, stay out of the sun as much as possible -- don't just rely on sunscreen. Exposure to the sun will only darken the area more.
Reply:Best answer would be from a dermatologist or a doctor. It could be a sign of skin cancer.
Reply:IT CAN BE HYPERPIGMENTATION, BUT TRY SOME BLEACHING CREAM ONLY ON THAT AREA. AND SEE IF I HELPS. BUT MAYBE U SHOULD GO SEE A DERMATOLOGIST 1ST BECAUSE THEIR MEDICATIONS ARE MUCH BETTER,AND STRONGER.
Reply:do you take birth control? sometimes the pill can cause areas of your skin to become dark colored, esp. if you spend a lot of time out in the sun. I would consult your doctor.
